Civil Society Week: Smart public policymaking in the EU – Making better choices together
Globalization and digitalization have eroded countries’ power over international markets, hindering governments, particularly locally, in addressing societal challenges.
This inability fuels distrust in policymakers and democratic systems. To improve policymaking quality and democracy, civil dialogue mechanisms must widen policymaking margins. This involves incorporating expertise from civil society organizations and academia to counterbalance for-profit influencers.
The workshop aims to analyze EU policymaking, emphasizing the connection between high-quality policymaking, democracy, and the involvement of non-governmental stakeholders and academia. It seeks to propose methods for enhancing public policy by incorporating diverse expertise and expanding participatory processes.
