Grand Est Region (France)

Description

Grand Est is an administrative region in northeastern France, formed in 2016 from the merger of Alsace, Champagne-Ardenne, and Lorraine. As the largest French region by the number of municipalities—5,121 in total, with 91% having fewer than 2,000 inhabitants—Grand Est is predominantly rural, with 80% of its land dedicated to agriculture and forestry. The region is a national leader in agriculture, agrifood products, and jobs in the wood industry.
