The present publication was presented during the General Assembly of ALDA – the European Association for Local Democracy – on the 8th of June 2023.

It capitalises on the experience of ALDA and its members and partners and it is an attempt to contribute to the challenges posed to Democracy in Europe and in the world. It identifies instruments responding to the multiple crises and offers options to support European institutions, in their efforts to strengthen Democracy as a pillar for peace and development.
The paper also highlights warnings that should be taken into consideration.
