ALDA partners play a vital role in the successful implementation of projects, as they bring diverse expertise, resources, and local knowledge to the table, fostering collaboration and enabling the realisation of impactful change in communities. The involvement of local partners is key so that projects can be even more engaging for local communities.
PARTNERS IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Amsterdam which name comes from “The Dam on the River Amstel”, is the capital and most populated city of the Netherlands. The City of Amsterdam counts a population of 921,402 within the city proper, 1,457,018 in the urban area and 2,480,394 in the metropolitan area. Located in the Dutch province of North Holland Amsterdam is referred to as the “Venice of the North”, for its large number of canals. Amsterdam is now designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Balkan Institute for Regional Cooperation (BIRC) envisions a functioning democratic state where citizens enjoy fundamental freedoms and rights.
This vision advocates for transparent governance, pluralistic media, and an active civil society, emphasising democratic principles and fostering a society of tolerance and equality. BIRC aims to create progressive regional values by establishing bridges of cooperation, promoting mutual knowledge, and combating prejudices in the Balkans.
Founded in 1209, the University of Cambridge is the fourth-oldest university in the world. It has 12,437 members of staff employed in academic, academic-related, contract research, technical and administrative roles. As of May 2022, Cambridge had more than 315,000 living alumni, with significant numbers in the UK, the USA, Germany, Canada, Australia, the People’s Republic of China, France, Hong Kong SAR, Singapore, India, Switzerland and Italy. Cambridge is a globally diverse institution and its students come from more than 130 different countries.
The researchers collaborate with colleagues worldwide, and the University has established partnerships in Asia, Africa, the Americas and Europe.
Wolverhampton is a city and metropolitan borough in the West Midlands, United Kingdom. In 2021, the population was around 263,700 people. The persons from the city are called “Wulfrunians”. Wolverhampton is located 19 km north-west of Birmingham.
Historically in Staffordshire, the town grew as a market town specialising in the wool trade. During the Industrial Revolution, it became an important centre for coal mining, steel production, locksmithing and the manufacture of cars and motorbikes. Wolverhampton ‘s economy is still based on engineering, including a large aerospace industry, and the service sector.
Trieste, so-called Triéste in the Triestine dialect; Triest in German and Friulian; Trst in Slovene, is an Italian municipality of 198 193 inhabitants, capital of the Italian region with special status Friuli-Venezia Giulia, overlooking the gulf of the same name in the northernmost part of the Upper Adriatic Sea, between the Italian peninsula and Istria, a few kilometres from the border with Slovenia, in the historical-geographical region of Venezia Giulia, of which it is the most populous city.
